چکیده

Abstract. A large number of intense cyclones occur every year in the Mediterranean basin, one climate change hotspots. Producing a broad range severe socio-economic and environmental impacts such densely populated region, call for coordinated interdisciplinary research efforts. This article aims at supporting these efforts by reviewing status knowledge field cyclones. First, we focus on climatology cyclone tracks, their relationship to large-scale atmospheric circulation future trends. Second, discuss dynamics processes that govern genesis development Then, present different subtypes cyclones, devoting special attention medicanes, i.e. with tropical characteristics subjects numerous recent studies. In subsequent section, review state art forecasting relevant high-impact weather, detail challenges increase forecast skill. Finally, main produced namely heavy precipitation, windstorms, dust transport, storm surges sea wave extremes. last section this article, thoroughly outline directions would advance broader

The physiological ecology of vascular epiphytes: current knowledge, open questions.

The current knowledge of the physiological ecology of vascular epiphytes is reviewed here with an emphasis on the most recent literature. It is argued that by far the most relevant abiotic constraint for growth and vegetative function of vascular epiphytes is water shortage, while other factors such as nutrient availability or irradiation, are generally of inferior importance. However, it is sh...

Current results and open questions on PH and MAP characterization

This paper summarizes some recent results of the authors on the characterization and the canonical representation of order n phase type distributions (PH(n)) and Markov Arrival processes (MAP(n)). These results make possible a unique and minimal representation of PH(n) and MAP(n) and opens the way for constructing efficient fitting methods for MAP(n). Especially, this summary is based on [10, 1...

Climatology of Cyclones, Anticyclones and Storm Tracks: Revision of Concepts

This paper has the finality of describe climatology of extratropical cyclones, anticyclones and storm tracks for the NH and SH. There is a long history of studies on the characteristics of synoptic systems, beginning with classical work on mid-latitude cyclones. For the SH, analyses of pressure data provide extensive statistics of the climatology of synoptic systems. Interestingly, the anticycl...
